Long-distance move from New York, NY to Portland, OR

Horrible Service.

Hired White Glove Van Lines to conduct my move, who in turn hired Most Valuable Movers (MVM). This process has been a hassle to say the least. MVM employees were not prepared, understaffed and were hours late on the first day of the move.

ALL of my furniture was damaged, a dresser and my TV were lost during the move. Additionally, I had a large dresser that was not mine, left at my new residence. I moved over a month ago and no update on my lost TV, no contact from MVM or White Glove Van Lines.

In my opinion terrible service and customer service. Save yourself the hassle and hire another moving company.

Do Not Use.

Do not have the experience we just had with this company.  Read all the reviews before even thinking about this choice.   They were late on the pickup date, claims to emailed us about delivery date (never got), price increased by over $2,000.00, had the delivery phone number wrong, boxes look like they fell off the truck, a lot of broken items and we have not unpacked them all yet, they want cash or money order before they unload and claim they told you, charged for the driver to sit outside your house till bank opened for money (with the damage I see why they wanted the money first), the girl on the phone was rude.  I think I covered it…  .

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Texas

Heart breaking move.

Moving information. Company:American National Van Lines / Most Valuable Movers: Date : 10/28/2014 Contact: Relocation Consultant Ryan G. phone Number 1-855-818-8863. I went online to get quotes for moving from NJ to Texas. All the quotes were over $5000. So I decided to move my self. I reserved a Budget rental truck and was ready to move on November the 5th. On November the 1st I received a Call from Ryan from American Van Lines and after going thru what I was going to move he quoted me  $2,096.95. this Quote was cheaper than  moving myself. Ryan also told me it would only take a week. On 10/31/2014 I received a call from Tanya from American National van lines to go over what I am taking. Tanya told me I have more stuff than originally quoted to Ryan and raise the amount of $2755. I still thought it was a good Idea that I would not have to load and to unload my belongings. the Movers were to arrive 11/03/14 per contract. On 11/04/2014 Most Valuable Movers arrived at 1035 Pm a day late. The driver came in at started to look around at my belongings. He told me I had more stuff than what was on the contract. I asked to see what he had. He had the 1st contract, I told him that was the old one. I showed him the second contract and he started to load the truck. at 235 AM they finished at locked all my belongings in the truck. The driver then started to fill out the paperwork and said to me I had more stuff and quoted me $5280. Told him I did not have that and he drooped the total cost to $4000. and Increase of $1245. I was stuck because I was leaving On 11/5 to go to Texas. On 11/07 I got a phone call from Nancy from Most Valuable Movers asking me if I was ready for my furniture and that they were ready to leave for Texas. I arrived in Texas on 11/09/14. I was told It would take a week to get to Texas which would put them there on 11th. My family and I had to sleep On air mattress and eat out. On the 10th I made a call to Most Valuable Movers and inquired the estimate time my furniture be there on the 11th. the dispatch said that the furniture is leaving that day. I told him that Nancy told me it was leaving on the 7th, He told me she was wrong. I then asked when he thinks it would be here and he told me it would take 3 days to get there. The dispatch gave me the drivers name and number  and said call him in a couple of days. The Driver name is Dan, I called Dan on the 11th and asked him what time he be here. He told me that he won't be in Texas till the Sat the 15th. I did not hear from the driver Dan on Sat. I called and called him and was not able to reach him. I decide to call Dispatch and they were able to get the driver and told me he will not be there till Monday the 17th. On Monday I received a call from the driver's wife (Christi) and was told they had to go to Huston and make another pick up and will not be there till Tuesday the 18th. On Tuesday I got another call from Christi saying there some issues and will not be there till the 19th. Now on the morning of the 19th I called both company and complained that we have been waiting and for over two weeks and had to wear the same clothes over and over and sleep on air mattresses. they told me they would look into it and will call me back.  Well they never did, that morning I received another call the the Christi and she asked me if I want the good new or the bad news, she started to laugh and told me they will be there on the 20th in the morning and she laughed.   On the 20th the drive did arrive and started unloading my stuff, there were extensive damage, Boxes crushed, dining room table chair broken, dining room table scratched, Queen size bed corner ripen and a tear in mattress box spring, small flat screen TV cracked. and glasses, pictures broke and much more. I took pictures of everything. As I unpacked I notice I am missing several boxes. I called the company and they referred me to put in a claim to CSI claim service. and make a claim. I feel I was taken and robbed.    .

Run.

Stole a gold ring from my deceased father in law from my jewelry box, stole my son's huge Lego collection, family photos, wall pictures, electric lawn mower battery, broke a tool chest, scratched up my dining room floors moving furniture with no pads, delivered the wrong bed frame with our parts of the frame missing, missing TV and wii cables, missing screws to put furniture back together, missing shop tools, damaged all the wooden furniture and the list goes on. Took $7000 for the move and threatened they were not going to pick up all our stuff. We ended up with 3 different loads on 3 different trucks with 10 days in between and unmarked boxes.. No laws to protect citizens from getting scammed.

BEWARE!! AVOID even if you have to use UHAUL.

We contracted with the broker Nat. Moving Group, who engaged Most Valuable Movers to move our belongings. We had no idea who the moving company would be. Though NMG was honorable, essentially when you use a broker, you sign two contracts. In our case, the MVM contract (bill of lading) didn't match what we were told by NMG. Don't use a broker! As far as MVM is concerned, they are a disaster! We just completed 17 months of frustration resulting in arbitration which got us a check for $765., a fraction of the cost of the damage MVM did to our belongings,..furniture chipped and broken, soft furniture stained and fabric torn, wrought iron coffee table broken, side table bent beyond repair and multiple boxes crushed. Our belongings were not blanketed as per contract and looked like they had been moved around the warehouse with a bulldozer. The panel truck which did the pickup was filthy,..as was the van (sides painted out) which delivered everything,.. and we had no idea they would go into storage. At the pickup, I refused to sign the bill of lading because it was not consistent with what I had been guaranteed by NMG. I only signed it at the urging of NMG,..after being shouted at by the owner of MVM. Had I not trusted the broker, NMG, and known the mover before the pickup, I would have seen their reviews and refused to us them. Learn from my experience. Oh yes, full value protection (FVP) insurance was quoted at a ridiculously high price of 55% of the moving cost making it unreasonable to use.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to South Carolina

Company should not be allowed in the Moving Business.

This is a moving company which needs to be shut down. The came and picked my furniture up on 2/29/2016 for a move from NJ to SC.
The first sign of a poor company, they wanted to increase the price $250.00 more than what was quoted. I was told that my items would leave NJ on the Wednesday 3/1/2016 and would arrive 3/4 or 3/5. When I called the company on 3/4 I was told that my things were in some warehouse and would not leave until 3/9/2016. Then I receive a call that my delivery date was 3/12 or 3/13. On 3/13 received a call from the driver at the address stating that no one was home which was a lie. I told them where I wanted but. The did but most of the items where they were suppose to be placed. As per their contract none of the items were re-assembled which they disassembled and one of the legs on the sofa was completely off which they placed by the door in the storage and left it. The dispatch and the administrative people were very rude and disrespectful. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY BY ALL MEANS.

Long-distance move from New York to Washington

Stolen Chair, mice fecal matter and urine.

I experienced a building fire in NYC and upon leaving did research whereby I could salvage my large art sculptures and ONE Bloomingdale's Chair that due to a spinal condition was perfect. (600 value and never heard from claims which would pay about 12 bucks) The original contact person Angela was superb on all counts and I went with the company as it shipped by cubic space not weight (would be unable to ship them). When one of their drivers had an accident they were bought out by this huge company (from family run). I kept them in storage in NJ thinking I would eventually return but finally realized I would never be able to. The storage in WA is about half the price and Angela worked as hard as she could to have them reduce my monthly rates but they would not. In all I spent 6 thousand for this company storage and shipping only to have my chair stolen (lived across Waldorf Astoria and saw this many time with other truckers) and sculpture with toxic mice urine and fecal material.

The company which bought them out after a trucking accident (one person died) finally sent me an email when I asked for my goods to be shipped. They charged me a balance and somehow their record keeping did not know I had paid in full and they actually owed me as the delivery was overdue. My complaint is re the company that bought out this small family run company.

When "Serge" arrived I was dismayed by how people's goods were treated. (I have lived in CA, Boston and overseas and know much about the issues with shipping). I saw one man (needed two mho) high up on a ladder trying to find my crates and having to toss other people's chairs, couches, desks et al from this height to the ground below. I wish I had taken photos. He needed someone below to pass the goods to. It is no surprise to me that most people have broken goods upon delivery - he as well would not change his operations so that this would not occur. I informed both my contact Angela (who by now had moved on) and the parent company. Could care less.

My much anticipated chair-with it's straight back was missing. Of course! A 600 dollar chair was per my contract supposed to be padded and wrapped by the company but was not (I had two months to undo my entire apartment and trusted they would honor the contract, otherwise I would have put an old blanket around it to hide it’s quality. As well a low table was damaged (not padded either and broken beyond repair). I know full well it was stolen having). I had them search as I assumed there would be camera's in the open area storage-not individual units but there was NO security). Well I had to take Angela’s word that there was a search - someone knows where that chair is.

I did all that was expected on my end of the contract - paying always on time. They did not honor any aspect of the contract at all. The insurance will be a hassle and not worth much, and being a one of a kind chair and rare in shape will never compensate me. If I even get a response.

But that is not what I now find disgusting about this company.

I finally was able to start to un crate the last and largest sculpture. I started to smell a disgusting fecal/urine smell.

I wrapped all parts (made to be taken apart in some areas).. with extra plastic yet I realized very fast that there was a mice/rat colony that had inhabited my sculpture for who knows how long! Not only highly dangerous urine + fecal droppings which is supposed to be cleaned up by professionals which I cannot afford (background in the health care fields) but there was a source of food in that facility as evidenced by the beans - pinto!

They had no pest control, the photos are evident of that and no security or concern about people’s goods! (I did not want to contaminate my camera so only the worst - need to get gloves and masks)

Nancy whom I just spoke with-did not say"sorry" lets see what we can do for you (as any good company who valued their customer base would) not seemed to care at all that money is their only motivation. I may need 1k to have it destroyed properly.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Seattle, WA

Avoid at all cost!

Worst move experience of my life and the nightmare continues. We moved from NYC to Seattle. I contacted a 5* company We-Pack who I now know are brokers not movers. They sold us the service and we were unaware of who the moving company is.

To start with the estimate was almost half the actual cost but we did manage to get most of the difference compensated by the brokers and small part by the movers. Once our belongings arrived however we realized how we have been lied to when sold the service.

Every single piece of our furniture is damaged water/broken/chipped. We had given clear instruction about the more expensive pieces all of which are damaged beyond repair. We own a number of Persian carpets which hold a lot of sentimental value and they have all been wet and shrunk. The worst part is that they tried to conceal some of the damage by using lots of glue and markers!! All in all we have to replace most which with a new baby and cists of move at this stage we are unable to do. MVM suggested we file a claim but from what I now know only a ffaction may be covered.

I would advise anybody against using this company. They are crooks and liars and have no shame.

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Austin, TX

Terrible Company.

**DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY** Like you, I thought "Oh, well only people who have bad experiences post on yelp. I'm sure none of the things that happened to these people will happen to me." That was very naïve of me. This company was hired by a moving broker, Atlantic to Pacific Movers (who were also terrible.) They just didn't show up on the day that they were supposed to come, then 2 days later when they rescheduled, they were 5 hours late with no phone call. Atlantic to Pacific had quoted us one price for everything that I told them we had, after everything was loaded into the moving truck, the movers said they had to charge us an additional $700 because we took up more space that Atlantic to Pacific told them. We were reluctant, but paid them. They were supposed to deliver our things in 3 days, it took 3 weeks for our stuff to show up. We tried calling both companies with no response. When I finally did get a hold of AtP, they said that it was my fault it took 3 weeks for our stuff to get to our new place and also ended 2 phone calls with "F**k you" and then asked if I wanted to come for Florida to fight him. When our stuff finally got to our new place, Most Valuable Movers wanted to charge us more because there were steps. In our moving contract it said that the price included 2 sets of stairs. I don't think I've ever been as mad at a company. They do not answer their phone, there is no voicemail setup, and you will not be able to get a hold of them at all. We almost called the police because we thought we got scammed after not receiving our stuff for almost a month. Save yourself the trouble and do it yourself, or use literally anyone else.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Most value mover. Beware.

Terrible moving company. Contracted through national moving group. Upon pick up the driver was 4 hours late and tried to pick up my things at 1am. After much persuasion deferred pick up until the morning. Delivery was made on time but everything was ruined. An entire box was missing. Furniture cracked in half and everything scratched or broken. The boxes were all smashed and ripped to the point where you could see inside of them. Mattress covers were ripped off and dirty. Unable to reach the company now in regards to a claim and my missing boxes.

Beware of using brokers as they use poorly reputable companies like this to transport your belongings.
